BioChemed Services offers clinical specimens and purified antigens for many types of research programs.

C-Reactive Protein Antigen (CRP)

C-Reactive Protein Antigen (CRP), a marker for low-grade inflammation, is also a marker for subsequent cardiovascular events. As such, it is highly useful in a variety of research studies.

Scientists measure CRP in serum to help diagnose:

  • Septicemia, meningitis, and other serious infections
  • Post-surgical tissue trauma
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Rheumatic fever
  • Skeletal muscle damage
  • Myocardial infarction

More information about CRP.

Carcino-Embryonic Antigen (CEA)

Carcino-Embryonic Antigen (CEA), a tumor-associated antigen, has been shown to be valuable in monitoring patients with diagnosed malignancies in whom changing concentrations of CEA are observed.

The clinical relevance of CEA monitoring has been demonstrated in the management of patients with the following carcinomas:

  • Colorectal
  • Breast
  • Lung
  • Prostatic
  • Pancreatic
  • Ovarian

Troponins, Myoglobin, and Fatty Acid Binding Protein (FAPB)

Troponins, Myoglobin, and Fatty Acid Binding Protein (FAPB) are all cardiac markers that can be used by emergency room physicians to establish – rapidly – whether or not a patient has actually suffered heart damage. Speed and accuracy in identifying heart attack victims have both been shown to be critical factors in enhancing these patients’ chances for recovery.
