Recovered Human Plasma:
Pooled Units

Samples are recovered from whole blood donations following AABB guidelines. They most closely imitate specimens coming from clinical sites performing clinical trials. Collections are pooled with different donors. Number of donors in pools can be indicated when requested.

All plasmas are collected in commercial FDA-licensed facilities and must pass all current applicable FDA-mandated tests for infectious pathogens. These include HIV, hepatitis, and syphilis.

Aliquots are collected with each unit as a “tester” to determine if that unit is suitable for a particular application. This will help reduce the number of freezethaw cycles that the bulk unit undergoes.
